Pray For Our Country

Our country is in the middle of a great battle, and we know that the best way for us to battle is praying. And the best source to turn to is not the news or social media, but the very Word of God.

We are told in James 5:6 that “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

We may not have the power to meet authorities in our government, but we can pray for them, and God can do mighty things through our prayers.

We may not be able to change other peoples’ hearts or minds with our words, but we have the power to pray for them and see God do miracles in their hearts through our prayers.

Pray that you and other believers would seek God in humility and that God would bringing healing to our nation.

Pray that our nation would be able to emerge from its darkness and seek God and be a light to others.

Pray that you, your family, and our nation would follow God and be blessed.

Pray that God would give our government leaders, church leaders, and all citizens His wisdom and knowledge.

Thank God that He is the one in full authority and in control of our nation.

Pray that each of our words would be loving toward others and line up God’s Word.

A Woman Should

Lady G 2016

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
Enough money within her control to move out…
And rent a place of her own
even if she never wants to
or needs to…
Something perfect to wear if the employer
or date of her dreams wants to See Her in an hour…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
A youth she’s content to leave behind….
A past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her Old Age….

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
A set of screwdrivers,
a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…
One friend who always makes her laugh…
And one Who lets her cry…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
A good piece of furniture not previously owned
by anyone else in her Family…
Eight matching plates,
wine glasses with stems,
And a recipe for a meal that will make
her guests feel Honored…
A feeling of control over her destiny…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
How to fall in love without losing herself..
HOW TO QUIT A JOB,
BREAK UP WITH A LOVER,
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT
RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP…
When to try harder…
And WHEN TO WALK AWAY…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
That she can’t change the length of her calves,
The width of her hips,
or the nature of her parents..
That her childhood may not have been perfect…
But it’s over…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
What she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
How to live alone…
Even if she doesn’t like it…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
Whom she can trust,
Whom she can’t,
And why she shouldn’t take it personally…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
Where to go…
Be it to her best friend’s kitchen table…
Or a charming inn in the woods…
When her soul needs soothing…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
What she can and can’t accomplish in a day…
A month…
And a year…

Honey Bourbon Chicken

Crock Pot Honey Bourbon Chicken

One of my most popular recipes is this Honey Bourbon Chicken (it has 4.5 stars with over 1,500 ratings).

A few notes:
It is named after Bourbon St, there is no bourbon in it but if bourbon makes you happy, throw some in. Or just have a glass while you’re eating dinner.

This pic was taken straight from the slow cooker. I didn’t broil it or thicken the sauce, but I do give instructions in the post if you like a thicker sauce.

I serve it with rice or noodles – I like to spoon the extra sauce over them – and I usually add some roasted broccoli or zucchini.

GRACE… God’s Insurance

I was at the grocery store this morning and heard a loud crash and something shattering. Being nosy, I walked towards the sound and saw some people whispering and looking back to the end of the next aisle. When I walked down that aisle, I saw an older lady had hit a shelf and many things had fallen to the ground and broke. She was kneeling on the floor embarrassed, frantically trying to clean up.

I felt so bad for her, and everyone was just standing there staring at her. So I went and knelt beside her and told her not to worry and started helping her pick up the broken pieces. After about a minute, the store manager came and knelt beside us and said, “Leave it, we will clean this up.”

The lady, totally embarrassed said, “I need to pay for all this first.” The manager smiled, helped her to her feet and said, “No ma’am, we have insurance for this, you do not have to pay anything!”

If you have read this far, I would like for you to give me a minute. Wherever you are, close your eyes, and imagine God doing the same for you!

Collecting the pieces of your broken heart from all the blows life has thrown at you. God will heal all your wounds. He wants to heal you! He wants to take care of your soul!

We can have that same insurance and it’s called GRACE!

Glorify God

To “glorify” God means to give glory to Him. The word glory as related to God in the Old Testament bears with it the idea of greatness of splendor. In the New Testament, the word translated “glory” means “dignity, honor, praise and worship.”

Putting the two together, we find that glorifying God means to acknowledge His greatness and give Him honor by praising and worshiping Him, primarily because He, and He alone, deserves to be praised, honored and worshiped.

Lady G

When I’m Sad, Hurting, or Blue; MUSIC and GOD Helps Me Through. I Live with Intention. I Walk to the Edge. I Listen Hard. I Love Passionately. I Smile. I Laugh. I Cry. I Choose with No Regret. I Appreciate My Friends and Family. I Continue to Learn and Grow. I Do What I Love. I Live As If This Is All There Is.

So many times over the years, I’ve heard some people say that I’ve changed. Not true.

I’m learning. I’m observing. I’m accepting. I’m heart-broken. I’m disappointed. I’m becoming…

What people don’t seem to understand I react to people accordingly. I’m not going to disrespect you even if you disrespect me, but I will dismiss you and walk away.

If you come to me correct, then we can engage in respectful conversation. And if you don’t, all you will get is my silence.

My relationship is different with everyone that I come in contact with, not because I’m fake, but because my relationships are unique and different.

Before you judge, get to know me. I’m not perfect. At times I’m weak. I get tired. I have health issues (which I don’t give into them). I have setbacks. I trusted the wrong people. I made mistakes. I made some wrong choices.

Judge me all you want, I’m only human and I’m perfectly flawed, I know it’s easy to point your finger at me… (KM)

2007 One of My Favorite Pics

Who Am I?

I go by many names (besides my government name): Momma G, Gina, Lady G, Smiley, Aunt Gina, etc.

I love God. I love my son, family, and my friends. I am passionate for the people and things I care about. I’m always hopeful. I don’t run from my responsibilities. I am proud and inspirational.

I love making memories. I love “me time”. I love practical gifts. I love being appreciated. I love feeling productive. I appreciate when people do what they say they’re going to do.

I am full of sparkle and compassion. I genuinely want to touch the lives of the people that I come in contact with in a positive way. I love hard. I am a hopeless romantic. I practice kindness. I am not afraid of the truth. I am loyal, adventurous, supportive, and full of surprises. I make mistakes, but I own them and I learn from them, and I apologize when I’m wrong.

He Is Risen

Whether it is called Easter or Resurrection Sunday is not as important as the event and purpose of the resurrection. However, the timing of the crucifixion and resurrection is significantly meaningful. The resurrection of Jesus is the culmination of all things meaningful, faith and fact, in establishing a relationship with God.

God used the timing, which occurred just after “Passover” and during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, to illustrate the ultimate sacrifice He made for sinners. Without this sacrifice, Christianity would be an empty religion. Every purpose of Jesus Christ, His atonement for sin, would be unfulfilled and the foundation of Christianity would fall apart.

The Passover commemorates God’s “passing over” the Hebrew homes by the angel of death (Exodus 12:29). By accepting Jesus, we are promised eternal life and we are saved from spiritual death.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread (verse 15) begins with unleavened bread (made without yeast) and sacrificing an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. Leavening represents the escape from bondage and sin. Jesus is called the Lamb of God through whom the only escape is possible.

Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection are God’s provision for the perfect and final sacrifice for man’s sins. God requires no other payment for sins! With this provision, mankind is granted opportunity for new life by the forgiveness of sin and escape from its bondage. It is ours for the mere acceptance of this gift.

This is the key event in the New Testament where it is proclaimed throughout. All four Gospels report the miraculous event. In Matthew 28:6 the angel declared “He is not here: for he is risen!” Mark 16:6 reports “Don’t be alarmed,’ [the angel] said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.’

In Luke 24:46-48, the risen Jesus gave His disciples a greater understanding of the resurrection when He told them: “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

You are witnesses of these things.” Jesus foretells of His resurrection in John 16, then to one of the doubting witnesses, Thomas, He says the following in John 20:29: “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

While Jesus was admired and praised as a teacher, healer, and for performing miracles, He was put to death on the cross. But God raised Him from the dead. Had the witnesses not believed what they saw, Christianity would not have spread across the globe and remained a profound belief to this day.

BTS – Butter

BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band that began formation in 2010 and debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment.

The septet—composed of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—co-writes and co-produces much of their own output. Originally a hip hop group, their musical style has evolved to include a wide range of genres.

Do Not Entertain Drama

But I’ll buy some tickets and watch from the sidelines… 🤔 👀

Learning to take that step back can be most difficult, not to mention challenging, especially if it’s your nature to want to help others. Sometimes you just need to allow the other person to take responsibility for their own issues at hand.

You can’t fix the world. Know when to participate or when to be quiet and listen. When you recognize that there is the potential of a dramatic situation ahead, create an exit strategy so you can disengage.

Establish and protect your boundaries. We all have some drama in our lives at one time or another. Dealing with our own is challenging enough without getting drawn into someone else’s.

Once you stop participating, the likelihood of being approached with their drama will become less. You will gain a strong reputation for one who “minds your own business”.

Become aware of the type of relationships you have. Are they healthy? So often misunderstanding and over reacting can bring drama to the table.

It is crucial to recognize such patterns, and by doing so, you create positive energy and a positive outcome when interacting with people, on every level. Minus the drama.

Try not to be pulled into another person’s emotions. Don’t engage in their gossip or anything else that may be hurtful to someone else.

That old saying; “misery loves company”. There are people that will stop at nothing to try and draw you in. Know when to walk yourself back, and just “be” with yourself. You have the choice whether to engage or not.

Be Yourself

It is a fundamental human desire for connection and social relationships because we are, at our core, relational beings. Many of us chose to compromise, afraid that we would otherwise be left alone, isolated, and helpless.

So we had to find ways to convince those around us that we are worth their friendship and act in certain ways to please others. In other words, we had to pretend. We may have learnt to cover ourselves well with the veil of pretence.

As adults, we may have a dozen masks to hand. Behind every mask lies a deep-rooted fear: the fear to express yourself and reveal to others who you truly are. When we blend in and try to be what we think others want, our life doesn’t feel very satisfactory because, well, it’s not our life. It’s based on a fake version of us.

When we’re genuinely happy, we know. When we are not, we know that, too. Exposing our true selves, fully embracing our deepest desires, and facing our fears requires a tremendous amount of courage.

Many of us have been trying to please others for such a long time, that we may have forgotten who we are and what is truly important to us. We have forgotten how to express ourselves, to be spontaneous and to recognize what we truly enjoy doing.

Coffee Filters

Coffee filters …. Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing even the large ones.

  1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.
  2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome… Coffee filters are lint-free so they’ll leave windows sparkling.
  3. Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish.
  4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.
  5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.
  6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.
  7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.
  8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
  9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.
  10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes. Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.
  11. Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters.
  12. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. It soaks out all the grease.
  13. Keep in the bathroom. They make great “razor nick fixers.”
  14. As a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliqueing soft fabrics.
  15. Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or a closet to absorb or prevent odors.
  16. Use them to strain soup stock and to tie fresh herbs in to put in soups and stews.
  17. Use a coffee filter to prevent spilling when you add fluids to your car.
  18. Use them as a spoon rest while cooking and clean up small counter spills.
  19. Can use to hold dry ingredients when baking or when cutting a piece of fruit or veggies.. Saves on having extra bowls to wash.
  20. Use them to wrap Christmas ornaments for storage.
  21. Use them to remove fingernail polish when out of cotton balls.
  22. Use them to sprout seeds. Simply dampen the coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a plastic baggie until they sprout.
  23. Use coffee filters as blotting paper for pressed flowers. Place the flowers between two coffee filters and put the coffee filters in phone book.
  24. Use as a disposable “snack bowl” for popcorn, chips, etc…

I Know I’ve Been Changed

A celebration of life through her music.
Died: Gospel Singer LaShun Pace, Who Praised God from 1970s Revivals to 2020s TikTok
R.I.P.

She sang through betrayal, divorce, and death.

LaShun Pace sang of God’s power. With a voice that could hold an angelic note or drop down to a sinner’s growl, she declared the Lord’s victory on a revival circuit in the 1970s, on the Billboard charts in the 1990s, and on TikTok in the 2020s.

She sang of a God revealed in times of trouble—belting it out, even as she went through her own unbearable suffering.

Pace, a founding member of the Anointed Pace Sisters and a solo gospel singer with eight studio albums, died on March 21.

She was remembered as the voice of the Black church experience, one of “the greatest singers to ever touch this planet,” and a gospel music legend.

Alcohol Awareness Month

While you may not know, April is Alcohol Awareness Month. This is a tradition that started as a way to increase awareness about a disease many Americans suffer from. The idea is to spread information locally, statewide, and overall nationwide.

Here are some of the signs you may be drinking too much:

  • Frequent mood swings
  • Increased anxiety or depression
  • Persistent thoughts about drinking throughout the day
  • Increased night sweats
  • Increase or decrease in body weight
  • Memory issues

Your Strength

In general, your strengths should be skills that can be supported through experience.

Take a piece of paper and write down all the things that come to mind, in a short exercise or over the next week or so.

Then rank those virtues and choose the top three or four qualities that most relate to you.

When exploring your strengths, think of qualities that you have that help you grow.

Some examples of strengths can include patience, discipline, inspiration, creativity, trustworthiness, or honesty.
